Since August I’ve been meditating twice a day - without fail. It’s a necessity, an essential ingredient to my day that sets my mind in the morning and a way to reflect in the evening.
Mostly it’s a chance to practice being No-thing and giving gratitude for the life I’m drawing to me.
The world is very noisy and full of opinions and meditation helps me move inwards.
Simultaneously, I have been off chemotherapy for 5 weeks - the longest break in 4 years - while we work out what to do next. It’s MEDITATION not MEDICATION. You might expect a period without treatment would bring much fear. I feel no fear, only peace. I say that with no arrogance in relation to cancer and treatment. I remain humble, yet curious.
So, the miracle occurred when I was in France about 6 weeks ago. I realised that I didn’t need glasses to read with anymore, for the first time in 5 years.
Some of you will know that I developed double vision due to chemotherapy damaging my optic nerve. Chemotherapy is a neurotoxin. Of course the hospital will tell you it’s the spread of the disease. Amazing that the double vision gets worse every time I have a new chemo. During my meditation I have been drawing the feeling of gratitude to me for my perfect eyesight, prior to it improving. There is definitely improvement in the double vision - but so interesting that I can once again read without glasses.
P.S. Since writing this I have returned back to treatment, let’s see how my eyes do - I’ll be watching…
In Chinese medicine it is said that the Liver opens into our eye. Following my Instagram post on the rejuvenation of my eyesight, I promised to do a deep dive into the eyes over here on Substack, so look out for more musings and practices over the next days.
